Does Grace Void the Law

DOES GRACE VOID THE LAW?

The answer is an emphatic, no!  The two work together. Grace is unmerited pardon given by God: The Ten Commandments are the Law given by God.  If there is no law then no grace is needed because nothing can be considered wrong or evil.  How can you have grace if  there is no law to break?

If  the Law is done away, why did our Savior have to come to die for our sins?  Since God is love and mercy, He couldn't allow our societies to continue as they are today so deeply consumed in suffering and agony because of our collective sin. Why would Jesus die for us to continue living in grief, heartache and pain which are the results of sin, if there is no law to let us know how to avoid misery and unhappiness?

If the wages of sin is death, If there is no grace no one will be saved because we cannot keep the law perfectly.

We must have the help of Jesus Christ to gain salvation and use his sacrifice to cover our sins if we want to live eternally with God and Jesus Christ our Savior.

The New Testament Bible makes some clear emphatic statements regarding the law:

Not the hearers but the doers of the law are justified Ro 2:13.

Faith does not void the law it establishes the law. Ro 3:31

Sin does not exist if there is no law. Ro 5:13

John defined sin as the violation of God's laws. He wrote (1 John: 3:4: for sin is the transgression of the law.).

God forbid that we continue in sin so that more grace will be given. Ro 6:1-2

God forbid that because we are under grace and not the law we should disobey the law and sin.  Ro 6:15

Is the law sin?  God forbid! It is only by the law we have knowledge of good and evil. Ro 7:7, 12

The law is spiritual and we are carnal and inclined to sin. Ro 7:14, 24

Those of us who walk not in the carnal direction (repenting of sin) are not under condemnation for our mistakes regarding the law.  Our sins are atoned for by Christ. We are saved by Christ sacrifice. Ro 8:1-4

Is Christ the minister or encourager of more sin so grace will abound?  God forbid!  Christ does not build again that which he is destroying.  Gal 2:17-18.

You cannot earn your own salvation because one would have to keep all the law perfectly which is impossible therefore we must have grace.  See Gal 2:21 and Gal 3:10-11.

Salvation is a gift from God to all mankind based on promises given to Abraham. Gal 3:6-9, 14-18.

Is the law against these promises of God?  God forbid!  Ro 3:21, 31.

False brethren were trying to use the law inappropriately (about circumcision and other Jewish traditions) to drive the church back into Judaism and a pharisaical approach to law which was self righteous and strongly condemned by Christ.    Mark 7, Gal 4:17, 5:1-6.   Matt 23:1-8, 13-31.

The Judaizer party believed in saving themselves by works and denying the need for Christ and his Grace.   Therefore Paul strongly condemned them in almost every epistle.  Gal 5:11-12

In conclusion we can see that we need both law and grace.  They work together.  If there is no law defining an action as wrong then we do not need grace.  But no man can earn his own salvation.  No man can keep the law perfectly so we must have grace and the help of Jesus Christ.
