PRAY FOR THIS ELECTION & SHOULD A CHRISTIAN VOTE?

Pod Prep: 11-4-16 Praying For The Election Results- Should Christians Vote?

THERE IS ALWAYS A NATURAL SLIPPAGE AWAY FROM GOD IN SOMEWHAT BIBLE ORIENTED NATIONS.

When do you think these observations were made?
Ministers seem to be more interested in popularity than the word of God and pop culture is contributing to moral decay of the youth.
We see sterile spirituality and church attendance down. Immoral behavior is on the rise.
College campuses teem with students heavily influenced by unbiblical philosophies. The more educated a person the less likely he is to be any sort of believing Christian.
These comments were made by the NEED FOR NATIONAL REVIVAL SUPPORTERS in the 17 and 1800’s. Just as in the days of the judges in Israel, when a good leader died, the nation always pulled away from God. Yet, our decline is now worse than ever in the history of America and Britain. We are now so secular that the Bible is no longer respected. It is treated as contraband among the leaders of the culture. Revivals like 1750 George Whitfield to turn the nation in a Godly direction are unlikely.
We need as much revival as can be expected at this point in our decadent society. This election is one of either choosing continuing down the ungodly expressway to decadence or moving back toward a somewhat more stable societal direction.

WE ARE AT A BIG FORK IN THE ROAD

Pray that the more godly men and policies will be placed in positions of authority. See Prov. 29:2. We don’t just elect a leader, we also elect thousands of bureaucrats who come with that leader. Will they be far left socialists, globalists, global warming activists, or more reasonable persons? That is our choice. Pray for truth in the media or success of the more objective media outlets. See Prov. 12:22. Pray that those who love liberty and truth and righteousness as best they understand it and will fulfill their civic responsibility vote wisely. Note Matt 22:21. According to Lincoln’s understanding of the constitution the people are Caesar. It is government by the people. Over 25 million professed Bible believing Christians did not vote in the last big election. That was not good for the outcome of that election. Pray that God will keep the doors to preaching the gospel open. Note Col. 4:3. Many in one party have given the internet to ‘bad actors’ among world leaders and supported punishing pastors who preach certain biblical truths. Issues before us include the following:
Family policies
Abortion funding & partial birth abortion
Protecting Judeo-Christian rights (other religions are not under attack and are exempted)
Excessive Socialism verses personal freedom
Out of control big government spending or responsible budgeting & taxation
Open borders or secure borders
Weak or stronger responses to Islamic Jihads
Dumbing down of education thru common core or returning control to local boards
Freedom of healthcare & the cost
First and second amendment rights ended or restricted greatly
Law and order
Many other issues will be coming and many freedoms like gun rights and business religious rights squeaked by the Supreme Court by just one vote. One more progressive activist on the court is a death knell for biblical values.
SHOULD REAL CHRISTIANS VOTE
We are told by Paul to pray for leaders and good environment for us. See I Tim. 2:1-4. James in 2:17-20 says we should show our faith by our actions. God is certainly in control yet that does not mean we should do nothing to further His will if we can. God says Israel was destroyed for a lack of knowledge. Americans are ignorant of both the Bible and basic actions of our government. Christians should be more informed than the average and should be good influences thereby. Note Hosea 4:6. Christians should not be voting for the party that proudly supports even partial birth abortion and booed God. God hates the shedding of innocent blood. See Prov. 6:16-17. Voting is one way Christians can stop evil. Can we or our grandchildren live under an ungodly progressive Supreme Court for the next 30 years? People should look at the party platforms and vote accordingly instead of personalities alone.

WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A CHRISTIAN CITIZEN

Daniel influenced Babylon for the good. Joseph influenced Egypt for the good. We can try do the same for our country. If we are to make disciples of all nations why not vote to stop those that would suppress Christians and the free flow of our message. They think Christians are bigots that must be silenced. See Matt 28:18-20. Christians should always stand against evil.
Christian values contributed positively to society for centuries. Christian involvement in government through the ages gave us hospitals, civil liberties, abolition of slavery, modern science, elevation of women, regards for human life, education for the common man and the free enterprise system. See Gal 3:28 and Col 3:11. Christianity led the way for human rights many centuries ahead of society.

IS IT TOO LATE FOR AMERICA AND BRITAIN

Have we become so secular that we will elect the worse candidate and God will no longer hear any prayers to help us? Note Jer. 14:10-11 where God tells the prophet NOT to pray for the people. I believe that we still have many nominal Christians that do not support all the new decadent trends. Many are praying for the country. We should join them in prayer. We may be able to slow down the ungodly decline of the nation if we choose the better leader and party platform with God’s help. Remember all prophecies are conditional see Jer. 18:8. Has God already decided to punish the nation by giving us really bad leadership? I hope and pray not!

PROGRESSIVES ARE DETERMINED AND MEAN BUSINESS

Progressives know this election is pivotal for taking total control of America. Many are so extreme they want to undermine the nuclear family structure. They want a secular world without any Bible influences. Jer. 6:15 describes a time when Israel was about to fall because they were proud of their abominable sinful practices. Progressives are proud of their intolerance for those who disagree and assert that Christians must be silenced on a number of issues.
We are not voting for utopia. That is not going to happen until Christ returns. All we can hope to do is slow down the madness by choosing leaders with a more normal approach to policy. We are free to not vote for conscience sake but isn’t that what they want us to do?
