Baptism & Repentance

Podcast Prep Baptism & repentance:

At the very start of the Church Peter said (Acts 2:37-38) Repentance was what God required.  This requires three things.

  1. Repent of our sins and commit to changing our behavior.  One must understand that sin is the breaking of God’s law. See I John 3:4.  Commit to obeying the law.
  2. Be baptized as a ritual to bury the old man and come up out of the watery grave a new man.  The past sins are then washed away by the sacrifice of Christ.
  3. Have hands laid on us for the receiving of the gift of the Holy Spirit.   See Acts 8:15-17.  Most Churches do not teach or understand the laying on of hands.

Jesus Christ is in the process of destroying death and our fear of the second death. Christ is freeing man from the consequence of sin which is death.   Christ our high priest in heaven is saving us and repentance and baptism are the beginning of the process.   See Heb 2:14-17 and 8:7-10.

God will forget and forgive our sins at repentance.  But men might forgive but will never forget them.  Repentance is very private.  Request the booklet ‘Buried sins and spiritual grave robbers” and the DVD on baptism.

One should not get baptized until one is totally committed to repentance and to keeping all the Ten Commandments including the Sabbath.    One must count the cost.   See Luke 14:25-33.

Repentance and struggling against sin is an ongoing effort with help of the Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ until we are born fully into the God’s family.  See Romans 8:12-30.
