The Seventh Command Thou Shall Not Commit Adultery:
NOT CONTAINING FIRE IS VERY DANGEROUS PHYSICALLY AND SPIRITUALLY
One Leader expressed the belief that God made sex a powerful force IN HUMANS that must be contained only within marriage. He likened marriage to a fireplace. Eros must be restricted to marriage for the safety of marriages and the family. The fire is safe in the home as long as it is confined to the fireplace. Eros uncontained is dangerous. Otherwise it will burn down the home and undermine our character. Sex outside of marriage obviously damages the family. THE SEVENTH COMMANDMENT IS ABOUT PURITY IN THE MARITAL (COVENANT) RELATIONSHIPS.
SATAN COMBINED TWO POWERFUL FORCES- SEX AND RELIGION TO SEDUCE US
Paganism often had temple prostitutes. They had young girls and boys given or sold to pagan priests for use as sex slaves. Many of the pagan religious symbols are sexual in nature. The Babylonian Religion contained a worship of the sacred feminine as well as the upright obelisk or phallic symbol. The queen of heaven is a common pagan deity. See Acts 19:27-34, and Jer 7:17-18. Asherah, the original bread of life where Canaanite women molded bread loaves to this female figure; and were ritually eaten. Her idols were found under green trees and upright poles and pillars all over the ancient world. It evolved in some cultures as Artemis the tree of life goddess. The Israelites did not understand until captivity how much they had been seduced and thereby punished by God by these two strong forces. See Jer 44:17-18.
Balaam understood the true God. He knew how to get Israel to curse itself and what God disliked. He advised the pagan rivals of Israel that the only way to defeat them was to get them to turn their backs upon the true God by getting involved in the Sex/Paganism revelry. See numbers Ch. 22-25, especially 25:1-3. It did not fully work against Israel but Satan is still attempting to defile our entire population by getting us to condone and participate in as much perversion as possible. He wishes to dirty us all up with paganism, prostitution and perverted sex, and diminishing of traditional Christian marriage. Raw paganism, animal worship and witchcraft are being promoted by Hollywood and not traditional family values. This is the way the false prophets are leading our society astray. This is what happened at Mt. Sinai and the Golden Calf idol revelry betrayal. See Exodus 32:5-6.
ALL SINS BEGIN IN THE MIND AND THAT IS THE REAL BATTLEGROUND
Christ made fulfilling or obeying this commandment a lot harder when he said you cannot even look at someone with the purpose of desiring them (excluding normal courtship). We must guard our eyes and our mind. We would all agree that when David first saw Bathsheba he should turned his eyes away and ran to get his mind off of her and into other thoughts. Thinking about her proved a disaster. See Math 5:27-29. Jesus uses hyperbole to indicate how hard and determined we should be to avoid temptations. The flesh is weak. Be cautious is what Jesus commands and in his spiritual expansion of the seventh commandment.
NEVER FORGET GODS GRACEOUSNESS, HE HAS FORGIVEN US OF OUR PAST SINS INCLUDING SEXUAL SINS. GOD IS AWARE OF THE SOCIETY WE CAME OUT OF IN THIS ADULTEROUS GENERATION.
