CAN PRESIDENT TRUMP PLAY THE ROLE OF PERSIAN EMPEROR FOR THE TEMPLE ?
President Trump has ascended as the world leader and America as the prominent super power FOR NOW. He also has great credibility with both the leaders of Islamic nations and with Judah. SURPRISINGLY he is being cheered also by left wing Jews in Israel. He has exercised strong influence over their government during this peace deal. Therefore he could push for the rebuilding of the third Temple more than anyone since Israel's existence began in 1948. Amazingly, President Trump has gotten all the Muslim leaders in the region to support his program. He got them to turn against HAMAS – wow! Reminds one somewhat of Cyrus the Great and Darius, both of whom used imperial power for the rebuilding of Jerusalem and the Temple.
Ezra 1:1-3, “Now in the first year of Cyrus King of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus King of Persia … the LORD God of heaven … has commanded me to build Him a house at Jerusalem which is in Judah. 3 Who is among you of all His people? May his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem which is in Judah, and build the house of the LORD God of Israel (He is God),” (NKJV)
Recall that President Trump was the first leader to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital against vast unified pressure. He withstood the pressure. He substantially aided the capital of Israel, Jerusalem, by moving the US embassy and giving the Jewish state's capital diplomatic status.
Israel can rebuild the Temple the easy way or the difficult way. Remember, after a long stoppage in Temple building, new leaders came and demanded the restart and the full financing of the second Temple. Enemy nations fought the rebuilding of the Temple, yet world leadership pushed the project to completion. This is the biblical historical model!
Ezra 6:.7, “Let the work of this house of God alone; let the governor of the Jews and the elders of the Jews build this house of God on its site.”
Ezra 6:8-9, “Moreover I issue a decree as to what you shall do … for the building of this house of God: Let the cost be paid at the king's expense from taxes on the region beyond the River; this is to be given immediately to these men, so that they are not hindered. 9 And whatever they need … let it be given them day by day without fail,”
Wow! What financial support for the Temple.
IS GOD LIKELY TO TEST THE JEWISH STATE? WILL THEY PASS OR FAIL?
Israel can only fully return to the Holy Land by building the Temple. It can be done willingly or under great negative pressure, the easy or the hard way. God has, in the past, tested His people.
Exodus 16:4, “Then the LORD said to Moses, ‘Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you. And the people shall go out and gather a certain quota every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in My law or not.’”
Frequently, the Israelite's failed God's tests and He sometimes removed His hedge of protection from them. The Jewish state has had miraculous victories in all their wars but could that change? Could some economic or biological warfare event put them into crisis mode?
If Prime Minister Netanyahu and President Trump decide they wished to add the Third Temple to their legacy, what might happen? The two could talk privately about how best to politically push this project. Since President Trump has such a powerful influence on all sectors of the Jewish population, it would behoove his pushing the project first. Further, he also has support –– as seen by the Gaza peace plan –– among the Muslim leaders. He could push it and get the least blow back.
WAS PRESIDENT TRUMP SPARED IN BUTLER, PENNSYLVANIA FOR A GODLY PURPOSE ?
We can speculate that since God wants the third Temple, He might provide a builder with worldwide influence to push the project. The very religious Jews believe that God must provide prophets to inspire the people to rebuild the Temple. Note the examples.
Nehemiah 6:1, “Now it happened when Sanballat, Tobiah, Geshem the Arab, and the rest of our enemies heard that I had rebuilt the wall, and that there were no breaks left in it (though at that time I had not hung the doors in the gates),”
Ezra 5:1-2, “Then the prophet Haggai and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophets, prophesied to the Jews who were in Judah and Jerusalem, in the name of the God of Israel … 2 So Zerubbabel … rose up and began to build the house of God which is in Jerusalem; and the prophets of God were with them, helping them.”
The spiritual enemies of Israel tried hard to block both the city of Jerusalem being a Jewish stronghold and the second Temple being completed. But God provided leaders to influence the governor and the people to complete the Temple on faith. Just speculating, but could President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu be the leadership required? Possibly a third leader, not yet famous, might help with the persuasion. In a few years both Trump and Netanyahu will be near the end of their terms and might want to add the third Temple to their legacy, especially if the peace accord is reasonably successful.
Would the Jewish state, in good times, decide to rebuild the Temple or would it require a disaster? Was President Trump spared for such a moment as Temple building?
WHY IS THE THIRD TEMPLE SO PROPHETICALLY IMPORTANT?
If one believes in Christ then one must also believe that the reality of the third Temple is a prophetic marker of the second coming.
Matthew 24:15-17, “‘Therefore when you see the “abomination of desolation,” spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place’ (whoever reads, let him understand), 16 ‘then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house.’”
What was Christ referring to when He issued this warning of an event very familiar to all people of His nation signaling His return?
Daniel 11:31, “And forces shall be mustered by him, and they shall defile the sanctuary fortress; then they shall take away the daily sacrifices, and place there the abomination of desolation.”
This terrible event is a stain on the history of His people. Also, it is the final count down marker for the end of this age.
Daniel 12:11-12, “And from the time that the daily sacrifice is taken away, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred and ninety days. 12 Blessed is he who waits, and comes to the one thousand three hundred and thirty-five days.”
When society gets closer to the second coming of Christ and the end of this evil age, the full meaning of all these prophecies will be revealed. We are just speculating on the evidence available to us now. If ten years from now the Temple has not yet been built then we still believe two or three leaders similar to Trump and Netanyahu will come along at some point to finish the project. Prophecies of God are absolutely certain!
Daniel 12:13, “But you, go your way till the end; for you shall rest, and will arise to your inheritance at the end of the days.”
